Here are some of the most common reasons people only get mild vibrations (or nothing at all) and tips that have helped many users achieve a fuller experience next time:
- Smoking technique is key — Salvinorin A (the active compound) is very fragile and needs to be fully vaporized and absorbed quickly. The most frequent issue is not getting enough into the bloodstream fast enough.
- Use a torch lighter (butane, not a regular Bic) to heat the extract thoroughly — it needs higher heat than regular herbs.
- Take a large hit, hold it in your lungs for 20-30 seconds (as long as you comfortably can), then exhale and immediately take another hit or two without long pauses. The full dose needs to be absorbed within about 2-3 minutes, or the effects stay mild.
- A bong or straight glass pipe works best because it cools the harsh smoke and lets you take bigger hits. Avoid joints or spliffs — too much is lost.
- Environment and mindset — Even though you had a sitter (great job on safety!), being too alert or “fighting” the effects can hold things back. Try in a completely dark, quiet room, lying down comfortably, with no distractions. Let go and surrender rather than resisting — many people notice it takes a couple of sessions for the plant to “open up.”
- Dosage and starting point — 20x is potent, but individual sensitivity varies hugely. What feels like a small amount to one person can be overwhelming to another. If you’re comfortable, try a slightly larger dose next time (weigh it carefully), but always start low and have your sitter hold the pipe/bong if needed.
- Other factors — Make sure the extract is fresh and stored cool/dark. Some people simply need stronger extract or enhanced leaves to break through, while others get better results combining methods (though smoking is usually the strongest).
